Faith Without Works Is Dead

James 2_19-20 & 26 - Faith That Does Not Result In Good Deeds Is Useless

James 2:19-20 & 26 NLT
“Do you still think it’s enough just to believe that there is one God? Well, even the demons believe this, and they tremble in terror! Fool! When will you ever learn that faith that does not result in good deeds is useless? … Just as the body is dead without a spirit, so also faith is dead without good deeds.”

A lot of times we will profess that we have faith in Messiah but if some of us truly examine ourselves we will realize that what we truly have is dead faith. I know it’s hard to swallow because it was hard for me too when Abba pointed that out to me too.

James 2 clearly painted a picture for me to understand. We go around professing our faith in Messiah and yet we produce no action to back up that professed faith and make it complete. James 2:13 tells us that there will be no mercy for you if you have not been merciful to others, and showing mercy to others is our faith in action. Beloved what good is it if we profess this faith but yet not expressing it by our actions?

So you see, faith by itself is not enough, unless it produces good deeds towards others, otherwise it’s just dead and useless faith and that is not the kind of faith we want to be exhibiting in this hour because for it will bring no souls to Messiah.

I love it where James says that believers may argue that “some people have faith; and others have good deeds” but James says “how can you show me your faith if you don’t have good deeds?” We show our faith by our good deeds! We are shown right with God not just by our faith but also by what we do, the actions we take to physically manifest our faith in Messiah.

Meditate on this today James 1:26 says “Just as the body is dead without a spirit, so also faith is dead without good deeds.” This is my prayer for the Body of Messiah that our actions would make our faith complete so that we would not have dead and useless faith.

Prayer:
ABBA, I pray that our faith increases to the level of Abraham’s faith so that our faith and our actions work together so that our actions would make our faith complete. In Yeshua’s (Jesus) mighty name, amen!
